My friends are in Berlin, Madrid, and Front Royal
I'm washing dishes, mostly mugs and pots
Listening to Cole Porter tunes until my thoughts sound like they come from a musical
And there is sun where I am, but even if it's dark elsewhere, I know that somewhere out there are so many people that I love and care about
So I dance around and dream that I've found a state of being better than any ever known to mankind
I can dance around, capable of anything

I expect you to notice me surrounded
By the tables and chairs, the stage bathed with lights
The door is over there and you are quite a sight
I study your face all night and it seems to give a clue that you don't want to be a close friend to me
I guess you can't see and keep drinking your tea, very hot and green
You don't send me a message, not even through your body language
Then you leave without even paying, the connection between us already breaking
Careful not to blow your cover
You don't want to seem too normal
But you cannot be too weird
because you may never recover

The people outside play, there's no class today

I estimate the inches, it looks like five
Hope this'll calm the squirrels down, even homework can't bring a frown
Until the white blanket goes away, I work hard almost every day
We want it to stay this way, it's not the snow but the holiday
That we crave when winter's here to stay
Men in neon suits shovel snow
I'm stuck inside like nearly everyone I know
I can't decide which film to watch, has my life been reduced to this much
I like snow days, I like books
I like coffee and cozy nooks
I am glad I have a place to sleep and put some songs I love on repeat
